SE Wisconsin | Storm Brought Quite a Few New Birds

Flyway Mississippi Flyway Flyway Location North Name Zach Kumbier Date 11/24/2015 Specific Location SE Wisconsin Weather Condition Cool and clear Summary Late last week the first "real" cold front of the year pushed through, putting snow on the ground ranging from a dusting in some areas to nearly a foot in others. This storm brought quite a few new birds into the area, mainly divers. Goose numbers remain strong but concentrated. With the snow thawing out mallards, geese and some black ducks have been hitting flooded portions of combined fields. The past few nights most inland lakes froze over however it didn't remain that way long. The majority of the ice has melted off the lakes and it seems while some birds have moved on to the next leg of the migration, quite a few birds are still around and still coming down. With the waterfowl hunting pressure at a minimum during Wisconsin's gun deer season this weekend would be the perfect time to get out on the water for some late season birds.
